10 Days Sri Lanka – Buddhist Archaelogical Sites, Kandy, Highlands, Safari Park & Beach

Day 01

Airport - Colombo

Colombo - Sri Lanka

Arrival at Colombo. Transfer to hotel for the evening. Free and easy for the 1st day.

 

 

 

 

Day 02

Colombo - Sigiriya

Sigiriya Fortress by King Kashyapa

On this day, we will drive about 5hours to Sigiriya, which is the center for exploring the major Buddhist archaeological sites in Sri Lanka. En route, a visit to the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage would be taken.

In the late afternoon, we will climb the spectacular rock fortress of Sigiriya, which is one of the major tourist attractions in Sri Lanka.

Day 03

Sigiriya (Polonnaruwa & Dambulla)

Dambulla Cave Temple

We will make our way to visit Polonnaruwa, the ancient capital of Sri Lanka from the 10th to 13th century. There are some fine ruins and statues to be taken in.

After lunch, we will visit Dambulla, the beautiful cave temples perched at more than 100m above the main roads.

Day 04

Sigiriya – Kandy

Temple of Tooth Relic Kandy

Kandy is the next stop on this day, about 3hours' drive away. At 500m above sea level, Kandy is the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. We go to the Temple of the Tooth, which houses the sacred tooth of Buddha. We will also enjoy a tour around Kandy, with its cool climate and bustling town centre. The National Museum and the shrines around Kandy are also places of interests that will be visited.

In the evening after dinner, enjoy a cultural show featuring the various dances of Sri Lanka.

Day 05

Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya Tea Estates and Factories

A drive round the Lake of Kandy before we depart for Nuwara Eliya, about 3hours away. Situated at 1889m, it used to be the summer resort of the British. It is a beautiful town set against the backdrops of English country-style houses, tea plantations and waterfalls. It is cold here, so layer up! Along the way, we will visit a tea plantation.

Day 06

Nuwara Eliya (Horton Plains)

Horton Plains Sri Lanka

The Horton Plains National Park form an undulating plateau more than 2000m high, consisting mainly of grasslands interspersed with patches of forest and some unusual high altitude vegetation. A half day hike will take us to World's End where the plateau comes to a sudden end and then drops vertically down for about 880m.

A picnic lunch here in the afternoon before we head back to town where it will be free and easy for the rest of the late afternoon.

Day 07

Nuwara Eliya – Yaala National Park Area

Yaala National Park - Wild Life in Sri Lanka

this day you will transfer and visit the national park in the afternoon .over night stay near yala.

Day 08

Full Day Activities in Yaala National Part

this day you will explore full day in the yala national park enjoy the picnic lunch there. Over night stay near yala .

Day 09

National Park- Galle

Galle Fortress by Dutch

We arrive at this World Heritage listed historic colonial town. It is Sri Lanka's 4thbiggest town and most historically interesting living town. There is the Galle Fort, several museums, a Dutch Reformed Church and the bustling town centre to take in. Free and easy on this day.

Day 10

Galle – Colombo

Bandaranayake International Airport - Colombo

We will depart for Colombo on this day, about 4hours' ride from Galle. Check into a hotel and there is time for some last minute shopping as we will tour the city before catching the plane .
